Marked footpath PR-HU 97 Villalangua-Agüero

This is an average difficulty footpath. It takes from 6 to 8 hours depending on physical condition.

  1. We start at the side wall of the church, then we walk down a concrete ramp which leads to a wooden footbridge over river Asabón. We go straight ahead as far as the footpath which will lead to the marked footpath PR-HU 97
  2. An hour later we will meet Foz de Salinas, which is an awesome rocky formation where an important colony of black vultures has its nests.
  3. From here we may take the path on our right and go to "La Fuente de la Rata". This is a beautiful landescape with small water falls and wild vegetation.

  4. We keep on the main path ans this way we will arrive at ancient Salinas. There we can see the ancient remains of an important salt mine. That ancient village used to pay its taxes to the king of Aragón with salt. There is still part of the church and some isolated house.
  5. We will follow towards our right to walk up to Portillo de la Osqueta. This is a "W-shape mountain pass from where we can see part of the Aragonese and Navarre Pyrenees. On sunny days we could also see El Moncayo mountain.
  6. Please, do respect wildlife and do not put fossils out.

  7. We will follow the main path leftbound as far as Agüero, going through a forest of pine trees, oaks, and many more species. We can choose between two possibilities in order to finish our excursion:

Once we get to El Portillo de la Osqueta we take the right path which leads us to a forest footpath, which goes around the top and descends next to Altabás camp.

Once we have left El Portillo de la Osqueta and a green panel hut, at about 100 metres the path has a fork. If we follow the left path we will go to Fuencalderas and to Biel.
